Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading - September to December 2005
A short course covering all aspects of Team Leading, learning though lectures, semiars and group activities. A wide range of modules were covered including: developing yourself and others, dealing with conflict and monitoring the Team's work. A five minute presentation on a topic of my choice was part of the assesment structure, along with a written essays and ongoing tests.

 

Brighton College of Technology, Brighton, East Sussex
Basic HTML coding - August to November 2000
Ten week course learning the basics of HTML coding, and how to produce and publish a web page. Including elements such as images, formatting, tables, frames, hyperlinks and forms. Also introduced to the way web publishing programmes, such as Dreamweaver, incorporate these basic elements when producing web sites.

 

University of Newcastle, Blyth Resource and Initiative Centre, Northumberland
Documentative Photography - May to September 1999
Learning about the history of the documentary style through photography. Project work and commissions included recording images of Blyth Quayside before major demolition and regeneration, and photographing a weekend long ‘page to stage’ workshop at a local theatre. All of the images were developed and printed by myself.

BA (Hon’s) Graphic Design - September 1994 to June 1998
Modules undertaken throughout the course to included Marketing, Photography, Typography, Business Studies, Communication Skills, Computer Studies, Art History and Theory The subject for my dissertation was the influence Gerald Scarfe had on the 1998 Disney film ‘Hercules’, and whether his style was revised for the younger audience as opposed to his style in the film ‘The Wall’.

The major module for my final year was a study into the 1990’s marketing success ‘Alcopops’. I successfully demonstrated that given a different marketing strategy and a major image redesign, the drinks would appeal to a more mature base instead of the younger cusotmers they were critised for targetting.

  • Qualified in black and white photography darkroom procedures as well as digital photography
  • Full, clean driving license and private vehicle owner.


Leisure Interests
I am a qualified Open Water Scuba Diver, an interest which I took up whilst travelling in Australia. I dive whenever I take a holiday, and completed my Advanced Divers course last year in Egypt. I appeared as an extra in the BAFTA winning film “Elizabeth”, and would love to be in another film in the future. Last summer I bought a jet-ski, and have spent many weekends at the beach learning to stand up on it!
